NEW REVIEW : Pretty Boy Thugs by Rahiem Brooks

4 out of 5 books

After serving time for a crime he did not commit, Don Juan Jackson is finally a free man. He wants to become a real father to his daughter Trinity but he needs to make some real money first. Don plans to return to the drug game until his friend Lex turns him on something less dangerous and more lucrative. Don and Lex soon make plenty of money in the world of white collar crime. But there is someone that's standing on the sidelines that's trying to take them out. Will Don and Lex be able to continue their criminal enterprise unscathed or will it all blow up in their faces?

White collar crime, murder, and dishonor is what you'll find in Pretty Boy Thugs by Rahiem Brooks. When you first start reading this book, you think that this will be another street thug getting out of prison to reclaim the streets type of story. But when you continue to read, you'll find out that this is not the case. Brooks does an excellent job of bringing us a crime thriller with a dash of street drama thrown in. The character development of Lex and Don makes readers want to almost root for them. There are a few minor editing issues but none that takes away from the story itself. This story runs at a pace so fast that you need to pay attention to who's doing what. There is a cliffhanger ending that just stops the story too abruptly. But the ending does create anticipation for what's next for Don and Lex. It makes you wonder if there is a sequel in the works. Pretty Boy Thugs is an entertaining, fast-paced read by Rahiem Brooks.
