Misleading by Winkk is the story of Jarvis Denttin, the owner of Denttin nightclubs, an elite and prevalent nightclub. Jarvis is sexy and wealthy. He is also selfish, deceiving, andcontrolling. Jarvis has a huge appetite for sex, but he also has a devious side. Women are highly attracted to him and willing to do anything to have him.

Candance Mourton is the personal assistant to Jarvis. She caters to him to keep the money flowing so that she can live the lifestyle she wants to have. She will do whatever it takes to make it happen, including appeasing his sexual appetite daily. But is that enough?

As an executive, Jarvis has many trustworthy people working for him. His executive assistant, Jennifer Moeky, commits suicide and Michelle, his personal assistant, moves on to a better venture. Candance is her replacement. To Jarvis, money is always first and everything else falls below.

Because money dominates the life of Jarvis, he can’t see the treachery brewing around him. There are schemes developing, but will he see them in time to change the outcome? Who is behind the schemes and why? Will Jarvis stand, or will his life all apart in front of his very own eyes?

Misleading by Winkk has lust, lies and betrayal. The storyline is good, but the events and the characters within the story are totally unbelievable. The characters did things that were really far-fetched. Overall, the story in Misleading could have been more realistic.

Monster by Arielle Crowell is a story of love, lust, lies, deceit, and betrayal. Christina is the daughter of a major crime boss in Richmond, VA named Romeo Calderon. Christina has lived a sheltered life and because of the protection of her father, she knows almost nothing about the business. Her brother, Dominic, has lived his life trying to be like his father.

Dominic is suspected of being involved in the murder of a member of the Carmichael family named Will. Dutch Carmichael is the son of Smiley Carmichael. Dutch is very handsome and charming.

Romeo Calderon throws a party for a few of his business associates, including Dutch. Upon meeting Dutch during the party, Christina is not very nice to him and appears to be stuck up and a prude towards him. Although Dutch does not know who Christina is, he is fascinated by her. Dutch’s father, Smiley, is in observance of the two and plans to use his son to get information from Christina for his own benefit. Smiley has a plan to avenge the death of Will, but is that the only thing he is after?

Although Monster by Arielle Crowell has its share of twists and turns, it also has its share of slow and fast. The ending seemed to be a little rushed and farfetched at times. In spite of this, the book was a good read and the characters were developed well.

My True Essence tells a poignant story of how breast cancer can change a person's life in a blink of an eye. We are introduced to the characters of Danielle, Janessa, and Rebecca, who are all dealing with the aftermath of a breast cancer diagnosis. Through faith, these women are determined to face the future with strength & courage.

The topic of breast cancer hits home for me. I have known a few beautiful people that have died from this terrible disease. Just because breast cancer doesn't run in your family doesn't mean you are immune to it.

The only problem I had with this book was that I didn't feel connected to the characters as much as I would have liked to. There were some parts of the book that seemed to drag on until finally getting to the point. I do applaud the author for tackling this important subject. Overall, My True Essence is a good read.

Gade and Saphire Michaels are sisters that have always had some sort of competition in their lives. Gade has constantly found herself in Saphire’s shade because of her overt sexuality and bold personality. But for some strange reason, Saphire has always wanted whatever Gade had, boyfriends included. Gade’s fiancé, Lamonte, is in the military and is away on duty, which leaves Gade with too much idle time. Saphire has Clay’s heart, soul, and mind but she still hungers for the excitement and the thrill of other men. Joe Burells meets the two sisters at the same time and begins to woo both without remorse.

What My Sister Don’t Know is a tale of jealousy, spite, selfishness, deception, secrets and sexuality. Being the good girl isn’t always what it’s made out to be. Will Gade stay in her lane, or will she traipse to a side that could destroy many people? Saphire has always dared to be dangerous, but will she continue to indulge in forbidden fruit when she has the ultimate treatment at home? Sisters should be friends since blood is thicker than water. Will the Michaels sisters defy these sayings for their own wants and needs? What My Sister Don’t Know was just a mediocre read for me. The characters lacked any excitable appeal, and the storyline had a lackluster flow. I struggled with this read from beginning to end. I couldn’t find any spellbinding scenes, dialogue or interaction in this book.

I could hardly put this book down. Latisha N. Patterson did an excellent job of capturing each of the five main characters. 368 pages seemed like nothing because this was definitely a great read. This is a great debut novel by this author, and I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for drama, friendship, pain, love, consequences. You will find all that and much more in Airing Out Dirty Laundry.

I didn’t know what to expect when I began reading Spring Fling by Age Lavelle. All I can say is to keep your seatbelt on because this book is full of twists and turns. Spring Fling was a read that I would definitely recommend. Age Lavelle touched on many subjects and showed that a person is only skin deep, and sometimes a person will act the way you want them to, even though their true feelings lie somewhere else. Suppressing your true feelings can be a bomb ready to explode. This book spoke on many risqué subjects including "the down low," sex escapades and much, much more. You will not be disappointed with Spring Fling.

This book is in no way preachy, which is wonderful. The thing that would have made this book a little better is if there was a little more back story to how Tyrese achieved success in the music industry. How to Get Out of Your Own Way is a good first effort for Tyrese Gibson.

Wanting to get away from the street life, Bird decides to finish high school and go to college to further his education. A chance meeting with an older fellow student pulls him right back to the streets. Bird eventually grows up to be a dominant force in the streets, but at what cost? With old enemies plotting against him, Bird fears for the life of his family as well as his own.

The Deadman’s Curve is an interesting tale about a young man who has to choose between the streets or living life on the straight and narrow. Robinson did a good job with the development of characters for this story, but there were a few editing issues. Throughout the book, it was hard to tell when things were occurring and how much time had passed. It is mentioned in the beginning of the book that Bird was thinking about the past, which was the early 1990s. But then for the rest of the story, you have no idea what year it is or if the book ends in the present day or not. The reader is left to assume the exact time period by the ages of certain characters. There were also some situations that were just left open by the end of the book that leaves you with more questions than answers. The Deadman’s Curve is still a decent debut by Tavorris Robinson.

This story moves at a good pace and readers really need to pay attention to this storyline, especially toward the end of the book. Hard Candy is another good read by Amaleka McCall.

Eye for an Eye is a fast paced page-turner by Dwayne S. Joseph.

Aftermath is a decent sequel to Snapped by Tracy Brown. This book picks right back up where the prior book leaves off. All of the beloved and hated characters are back, and they're still trying to solve their issues. The majority of the storyline was dominated by Misa's trial, while the other characters' stories seem to be almost secondary. Camille was acting so clueless in this book sometimes that you wish that you could just slap some sense into her. All in all, Aftermath was a fitting conclusion to this story.

G.A. Peach did a good job with the overall storyline in this book. But Tabitha's situation involving a secondary character named Fancy towards the end of the book felt too rushed. There was not enough background information on Fancy to warrant her actions. All in all, Hot-N-Heavy is a quick and fun read.

There is plenty of non-stop drama and mayhem that you would come to expect from Santiago. The only thing that would have made this novel even better is if there was more background and focus on Arnessa. It's like Arnessa was introduced to readers in the beginning of the book and then faded into the background as the storyline progressed. Allure of the Game is an entertaining novel that was long overdue for Danielle Santiago fans.

Each character's actions in Sexed By Six were based off their impulses, and rather than making mature decisions, they impulsively did whatever they wanted. Of the six main characters, all but one had the ability to resist his impulses and care enough about consequences to think through an act.

After four years of dating, Jasmine (Jazz) is still looking for Jay to settle down and put a ring on her finger. What Jazz doesn’t seem to get is at this time, Jay has it all and there really isn’t any incentive to marry. She’s beautiful, he’s calling her his fiancé, and he has a host of friends and a great job. But still, he wants more and continues to satisfy his impulses outside of the relationship. Once again, Jay is on the prowl, adding yet another notch in his playa belt. This time he meets a stranger who turns his life upside down. But karma is something different, and it is written that “as she has planted, so does she harvest; such is the field of karma” Watch out Jay!

Four months ago, Will met Keisha and they hit it off. He fell fast for her. You see, Will was waiting for THE ONE, and in his mind, THE ONE was Keisha. So when she told him that she was pregnant, Will never missed a beat and began preparing to be a father. But as quick as he received that news, Keisha had another surprise for him waiting in his bed when he returned from work.

Also part of the six we meet Demarcus, one of my favorite supporting characters. What started as a booty call continued ringing that way for Dee and Tyra. Unfortunately Dee let curiosity get the best of him. Impulse directed his actions and his evidence was laid out for Tyra to see when she returned home.

Sexed by Six: Balancing Lust and Deception explores the mind of six characters, as their lives entwined together into quilts of lust, love, and deception. The chapters are written from each characters point of view and filled with his or her emotions. The storyline is real and the voices are right on point. Unfortunately, I had issues with this book. I understand the author wrote this book while in Afghanistan (thank you for serving), but more care should’ve been taken with the editing. The job was poor and resulted in this reader not caring much for the characters or swimming my way through the errors, it was very distracting. At one point in the book, the correct word to use would’ve been “might” but the end result was “my”. Had this not been a review book, I would’ve filed it under “File 13” because of the errors alone. But all in all, the story was REALLY good.

After being heartbroken, Shawna develops the mindset to use men for what they can give her, even if it's just one night of pleasure...never wanting to go down the path called love ever again.

Love's Damage by Timothy Michael Carson is a story of friendship, heartbreak and mending. In reading this novel, I noticed the author kept making reference to what song was playing (unnecessary to the storyline) or what each character was wearing (again, unnecessary to the storyline.) The storyline with Anjel could have made for a suspenseful read if the author would have gave more detail to some of the things Anjel was doing instead of just stating them in one paragraph. The story lacked any real suspense until the last twenty pages or so and then something climatic happened and then the story just....ended. With a little more development Love's Damage could have been a better story.

Rico is Manny's hotheaded brother. Manny is the brains behind the the organization and leader of the M3 Boys, while Rico is the one that handles the ins and outs of the daily operations. When the crime family, the Marielitos, come to the brothers to tell them to stay off their turf, Rico pulls the trigger and kills one of their lieutenants. In turn, this would set off a huge war on the streets. While the bodies are piling up, loyalty and lines are about to be crossed. When it is all said and done, Manny will be wondering who it is he can truly trust.

Crime Pays by Tha Twinz is a book about family, loyalty, friendship, drugs and murder. Aside from the fact that the book had some editing issues, the story itself had some scenarios that were just highly unbelievable and contradicting. In one part of the story, Manny makes it a point to tell his girl not to trust anyone, yet Manny seems to trust people from the start of meeting them. This is not a good business practice, especially in the drug game. Some of the situations in the book had me constantly shaking my head thinking to myself, SERIOUSLY??! Some of the things that happened were simple, especially in the beginning of the story. The story had the potential to be a better story, but unfortunately the execution failed.

She does a wonderful job of intertwining the different story lines. Her writing also just flows without having lagging moments. A Love Built to Last was a story that kept you entertained from start to finish.

He was very good at his craft because he couldn't hold down a job to save his life, and the fact that he lived with his momma didn't make it any better. Corie was a married psychologist who didn't know the true meaning of faithfulness. While his wife was taking care of their daughter, he was taking care of his patients in more ways than just helping them with their problems. And then there was the NFL player, Damon. Damon thinks that all eyes should be on him. His ego was bigger than the football field he played on. These three friends will encounter drama, tragedy, and death. Will they prevail and still walk among Washington D.C. as the undesirable men that they are? Or will the new events that happen to them change them for the better?

Mr. Undesirable by Arielle Crowell is filled with so much drama that I don't know where to begin. All I can say is that this book will keep you engrossed until the last page. There are some twists that you would not expect. The author does a great job of keeping the attention of her readers because each chapter gives you enough detail to understand each character and the issues they are going through. While reading, you don't know if you should hate them, laugh at their foolishness, or feel bad for them for what they're going through. The only small issue I had with the story is that there was a lot of grammatical errors. But other than that, Mr. Undesirable is a great read.

Being an avid K'wan fan, I couldn’t wait to dive into Eviction Notice. Eviction Notice will take you from the rough streets of Harlem, and all the way to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Kwan starts his journey where Welfare Wifeys and Hood left off, using some of the same characters but also reintroducing some of new characters. Animal was an up-and-coming artist under Big Dawg Records who made it big on the charts, but old habits die hard. When Animal catches a life sentence and is on his way to start his prison bid, he is mysteriously abducted, leaving bloodshed and bodies down. Animal's disappearance has Harlem shook, especially his fiancé Gucci. Is Animal gone for good, or does he have a surprise for everybody in Harlem?

Three friends and roommates named Porsha, Frankie, and Sahara find themselves with an eviction notice after getting conned out of their rent money from the landlord that they are subletting their apartment from. Facing the possibility of being putting out on the street, the girls must raise the back due rent. The girls get involved in all kinds of situations and schemes including stripping, selling drugs, dating a CEO of a record label and to one being accused of murder. Will the girls be able to raise the money they need, or will all hell break loose?

Eviction Notice by K'wan was a great read. Kwan keeps you entertained from the beginning to the end with the gritty trails of Harlem and beyond. When money and greed is involved, you never know what a person will do to get their hands on the cold hard green.

5 Reasons to Leave a Lover is a collection of short stories. The main story centers on a married couple, Ellery and Julien. Ellery discovers that her husband is having an affair, and she then goes through a series of emotions and questions that mirror those that could occur in real life. Ellery questions why her husband is cheating on her, if she is not enough for him, and what is so special about the other woman.

While there are many fiction books that touch on the subject of infidelity, author Carolyn Moncel writes this story as an emotional tale that the reader can identify with. Unlike other books, Moncel shows that the man can feel inadequate and simply want to feel needed in a relationship and that it is not always sex that leads them astray. 5 Reasons to Leave a Lover also shows the emotions that the other woman might experience once they find out that they are the “other woman.”

This collection of short stories was a quick read as each one was intriguing in its own way. I highly recommend this collection to everyone.

There have been countless real life stories about how lottery winners get really clueless about their finances once they get their winnings. But Lenora’s clueless behavior is just way too much in this story. The character development wasn’t as strong in this book as in Briscoe’s previous novels. This book seems like it was too rushed, and it felt as if something was missing from the entire story. Money Can’t Buy Love was an average read at best.

Michael Palmer is a man who can’t seem to stop having extra marital affairs. He seems to think that he is addicted to sex and is failing to control himself. But things are about to get heavy for Michael when one of his affairs spills over to his professional life. He has more than he bargained for when his life is threatened, and he finds himself on the run. Michael’s life soon spirals out of control, and he’s running out of people that he can trust.

Phillip Thomas Duck created an interesting story with Exit. This book is filled with a lot of other complex issues that’s more than just a man’s sex addiction. There’s murder and sinister plots that make this book interesting. But there was so much going on in this story that it made things confusing. There are a lot of things concerning Michael and other characters that are implied rather than spelled out specifically, which leads you to basically come up with your own conclusion by the end of the book. There’s no clear explanation as to why Michael was targeted in the plan that made him go on the run. This story was also a tad too long and could have been cut down about 200 pages considering the slow pace in which the book moved. Exit was a book that left you with more questions than answers by the end of the book.

Marlon McCaulsky has penned a continuation of life within the sexually charged walls of The Pink Palace with a few familiar faces. Greed, theft, murder, bribery, treachery, drugs, sordid sex, threats, manipulation, a tad bi of suspense, and even more steamy sex scenes thrive within these pages of sex sells, sex sells, and yes…sex sells. Malachi Turner is not someone to be dismissed or taken lightly, but can his reign of tyranny be overthrown? Who would have the gall to go up against this evil giant? Will Nikki’s attempt to fix her family’s problems only bring more drama, or will she accomplish all that she sets out to correct? When Jasmine feels threatened, will she react or will she be able to get her emotions in check and see the picture clearly? The Pink Palace II was an easy read with a nice flow, but it had no real excitement to build an unforgettable momentum. I found one major con in this read and it is the inconsistency of the Jamaican dialect, which proved to be a major distraction.

Fabiola Joseph makes quite a statement on the very first page of The Art of Deceit. The first page is so bold and intriguing that I knew that I would quickly read the 533 pages that followed. This book has it all: love, lust, erotica, manipulation, romance, and deception.

Tangie was told by her mother at the age of 7 to always know her worth and to go after what she wants. Tangie never forgets her mother’s advice and has made her life’s goal to marry someone rich and famous. She has the perfect opportunity to make her goal become a reality when she is cast as the lead in a rapper’s music video. Sparks flew between her and Tayvon immediately, and she moved into his home.

Tangie’s web of manipulation and deceit begins immediately and she believed she was in total control of everyone involved. But things began to spin out of control when another person falls in love with her and the feelings are returned. The Art of Deceit is a definite page-turner, and I can not wait for the sequel.

Holiday Seduction by Kayla Perrin

Mikki Harper has just broken up with her boyfriend of two years and is out with her girls drowning her sorrows when she meets the most handsome guy she has ever laid eyes on. After a few drinks too many, Mikki ends up in bed with "Fairy" Barry. Barry Sanders turns out to be Mikki's safe, chubby, nerdy friend from high school. Boy has time been good to him! Once Mikki realizes what she has done, she quickly leaves Barry's hotel room thinking she will never see him again. Unfortunately fate was not so kind. Mikki runs into Barry again in Florida at her sister's wedding. During this time Mikki changes her image, the two of them make some startling realizations, and Mikki's ex comes to Florida to win her back. Hopefully it's not too late for everything to work out as it should.

Holiday Seduction is a good read by Kayla Perrin. It is a feel good story that draws you in. Perrin does a good job of developing the primary and secondary characters. She also does a good job of keeping the story flowing. Nice holiday read.

Her Holidays Gifts by Deborah Fletcher Mello

Restaurant/bakery owner Malisa Ivey finds herself in an awkward position when she gets locked inside of a cake box and delivered to the office of her handsome client, Gabriel Whitman. Gabriel could not believe the beautiful woman he just rescued from a cake box of all places. He and Malisa are drawn to each other immediately, and they decide to see where it could lead. There is only one problem: Gabriel's ex-wife and mother of his son. She is determined to get Gabriel back. Malisa is not sure she wants a ready made family, especially one with so much drama, but she quickly decides that Gabriel is a man worth fighting for.

Her Holiday Gifts was a good read by Deborah Fletcher Mello. Fletcher Mello does a great job of making the story flow without lagging moments and with character development. The only problem that I had with the story was the abrupt ending. The ex-wife causes all kinds of problems, there is a a brief conversation between Malisa and the ex-wife, and then Malisa is with Gabriel and his son. Problem solved! All the drama that is built up throughout the story and it gets resolved with a brief conversation. That was a little disappointing, but other than that, Her Holiday Gifts was a good story.

Right or wrong, friend or foe, good or bad, true or false…these questions plagues these three teenagers as they journey through this Boyfriend Season. Boyfriend Season by Kelli London was just a decent read for me. It had a decent flow, a decent plot, and decent characters, but nothing extra to brag about.

Fannin' Old Flamez by Tracy L. Cooper has a smooth rhythm, but there were no actual waves to cultivate any excitement or adrenaline rush. The character development was good, but there wasn’t anything extraordinary about the plots, storyline or characters.

Well...all I can say is Jasmine Bush and Rachel Adams are not your average First Ladies. They both have had shady pasts, and they've beaten the odds and have become better women for it. At least, that's what we thought. When the President of the American Baptist Coalition is retiring and both Rev. Lester Adams and Pastor Hosea Bush are nominated, Jasmine and Rachel decide they both deserve the prestigious title of First Lady of ABC. When both ladies think they have to fight dirty to win, they underestimate the current first lady of the coalition. She's a first lady that's bigger, badder, and has more tricks up her sleeve than both Jasmine and Rachel put together. So, who will come out on top?

Sinners & Saints is one of the best collaborations of authors I've ever seen. Both Reshonda Tate Billingsley and Victoria Christopher Murray are two of the best authors. I've always enjoyed reading their novels, and that's because they never disappoint. In Sinners & Saints, they give you drama, laughter, and suspense. Also, if you have not read any novels about Rachel Adams and Jasmine Bush, you won't get lost with this one. Each author gives a brief summary of some of the mayhem that both first ladies have inflicted. You'll understand the viewpoint from both the main characters and their sub-characters. Sinners & Saints is an excellent read, and you won't be disappointed. The only decision you'll have to make is whether you're for Team Rachel or Team Jasmine.

While in France, Bianca had fallen in love with someone that his family would not approve of for her. Which Livingston will win out and get their true heart's desire?

Author Lutushia Lovely has a another interesting read on her hands with Mind Your Own Business. This book has romance, rivalry, and suspense. The only problem I had with this book was the fact that it was a little too predictable in some chapters, but not most of them. Other than that, it's a book that you won't want to put down. If you've read the past novels about the Livingstons, you'll want to read Mind Your Own Business .

Broken is the third book of a series created by author Patricia Haley about a family's corporation. After getting enough votes and stock to oust Joel as CEO, Don Mitchell is left to put the company back together. While trying to put the business back in tact, he also has the task of trying to put the family back together as well. His sister, Tamara, had her own demons within the family to face. She was adamant that she was not going to step back into the home where all of her bad memories were. She ran to Europe and kept running until danger strikes her there. Zarah, Joel's wife, is in a foreign land with no family except for a husband that wants nothing to do with her. She is battling with her loneliness, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Even though Zarah feels like a noose around Joel's neck, he does feel guilty about not having the same feelings for his wife as she has for him.

Thoughts like forgiveness, temptation, and redemption may come to mind while reading Broken since all of them are encountered. I enjoyed this book just as I did the prior two. Broken is definitely a page turner, and you will want to know what happens to each and every character. Once you read this book, you won't want to put it down until the end. I was not too happy with the ending, but from what I read, there may be a fourth book. Broken is a good read, and I recommend this book if you want to read a good christian fiction novel.

She also wonders what exactly her new position requires her to do. It seems like her new boss is more interested in her personal life than anything else. The question is why?

Back On Top by Angela Winters was a drama filled story of friendship and lies. A story of three women who are driven to be successful in their careers no matter what. The constant name dropping of famous designer labels did get a bit annoying. There was no suspense to the "big secret" within the story. Some parts of the story were also a little repetitive. All in all, Back On Top was just an okay read.

I have always enjoyed how author Vanessa Davis Griggs puts a twist on biblical stories and bring them into the modern world. While reading Redeeming Waters, there are some lessons to be learned and may have you questioning if you're on the right path. The author grabs your attention from page one and keeps it all the way until the end of the book. As you read this book, you will come to understand each character and their walk with or without God. As I always state when I read one of her books, Vanessa Davis Griggs is never preachy, she gets to the point, and it's something you'll definitely understand. Redeeming Waters is a very good read.

This is the story of Michelle Larsen and Daryl Jackson. Michelle is looking for a good man. The guys that she meets are not up to par in one way or another. They have issues that she just can’t deal with, and some of the issues are pure comical.

Now enters Daryl Jackson. Daryl is a handsome, educated and seemingly paid man who wants to settle down. It is said that if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Daryl has a secret, but while most women can’t handle the truth, Daryl thinks Michelle can. The question is...can she really handle the truth?

After dating for a while and Daryl not making a move on her, Michelle is wondering what is wrong with him. Of course, she makes a boatload of assumptions that turn out to be wrong.

A Hard Man Is Good To Find had a few typos, but not enough to hinder the story. The biggest error I saw was the one on the type of vehicle he drove. One sentence said Blazer and the next said Yukon. Although humor was spread all the way through the story, I felt that it became a little annoying. Daryl seems to be well paid, but we aren’t told what he does for a living and Michelle began to work my nerves with Daryl. Why did she stay with him so long yet kicked the others to the curb with a quickness? Even though A Hard Man Is Good To Find isn’t a long book, overall it was a good book.

Enough is enough and so she packs up, takes the kids and leaves.

Enter the sexy and charming Damir. When he walks into Naima's office and sees her for the first time, he knew he wanted the opportunity to get to know her. With the demise of her marriage, Naima decides to begin dating Damir. She is happy for the first time in a long time, but Damir has a secret of his own.

Coveted by Mychea is a story of love, lust, lies and betrayal. For the most part, this was a pretty good story. The problem lies in there was just too much going on within the story in so few pages. During all of this, Kevin has been angry with his dad because he was basically non-existent in his and his brother's lives. But he demanded that his children carried his last name. Ace, who thinks he's God's gift to women, will soon find out that the grass is not always greener on the other side when it comes to being a womanizer. Their cousin Cameron, who has a degree from MIT, has made it his goal to prevent the family from annihilation. While researching their heritage, Cameron finds out their ancestors come from a royal African tribe. He tells his cousins either they can fall into the typical stereotype of angry black men, or they can become the strong black men their legacy has been made of.

Author Pat Simmons has another great book on her hands with Guilty By Association. Throughout this novel, you are constantly reminded of how strong the love of God is. You will read how each character has an obstacle to conquer, and how they soon realize they cannot do it without God. I enjoyed how the author has given just enough detail to each character that you understand what they are going through. You will fall in love with each character, especially Grandma BB! She's a pistol. But with her help, and the help of some others, you will see how the angry black man's wall starts to crumble. Even though Kevin's trying hard not to let that happen, with God's help, Kevin is fighting a losing battle.

After I finished reading this book, I had to go online to see what others were saying about it. I felt like I missed the story because with over 90 reviews, it received an average rating of a 4.5. So before writing my review, I sat down and pondered where I went wrong with this story. Then it hit me, I didn’t go wrong.

The story was sprinkled with so much drama that I felt lost in the storytelling because so much was going on.My 3 star review might not be the fault of the author, but too many characters and issues are a bit challenging for me. It seemed the author wanted to touch on more issues then should be handled in one book: deaths, repressed memories, incest, alcoholism, religion, homosexuality and more. Let’s take a look at the characters.

Simone Johnson continues to have the same dream night after night of a little girl and a man. She knows the little girl is in trouble at the hands of this man, but she is unable to see the faces and details. When will her mind release this trauma?Best friend Stacey was the relief this reader needed while trudging through the story. His one liners and comedy at times made me laugh out loud. I was excited when he met Tyron, but I was also shocked that he went for the terms of the relationship. Could he ever be a kept man? His heart says no, but the mind is a tricky thing. If you tell yourself something enough times, it becomes your reality.

Talise was my favorite character since her strength as a friend spoke volumes as Simone’s BFF. When her mom told her that they were getting a divorce, I was worried how she would pass on that information to Simone, who was emotionally unstable to a degree. But like only Talise could do, she took care of business.

This Can’t Be Life by Shakara Cannon is contemporary fiction centered on Simone but also focuses on her two best friends and the relationship that they all share. If you enjoy drama-filled situations as well as twist and turns, then This Can’t Be Life is the book for you.

Being an avid fan of Noire, I was excited to read G-Spot 2 Pride: The 1st Deadly Sin. The new installment actually picks up right where G-Spot ended. Juicy Stanfield, who was uprooted out of her life as she knew it, begins working at the G-Spot Social Club. Being that Juicy is the top lady of G, owner of the Social Club, and she is exposed to a lot. But there are rules that are in place and Juicy seems to not be able to follow them. Things change when Juicy betrays G. Juicy has to endure the consequences and repercussions of her mistakes with all her family dead and murdered at her hands. With G being dead, Juicy is on the run with the love of her life, Gino (G’s son). But as they embark on their new life together, is the coast really clear, or does Juicy have enemies still lurking around the corner?

Even though G-Spot 2 Pride: The First Deadly Sin was short, it packs a big punch. This story will have you on the edge of your seat to the very end. This story showed that no matter where you go and try to hide, if you have unfinished business...you can be found. Juicy has done a lot of wrong in her past, and trying to make a new life with Gino seems just within their reach, but all it takes is one mistake and that happiness can be gone in a blink of an eye. G-Spot 2 Pride: The 1st Deadly Sin is definitely a must read!

She is able to bring the characters to life and pull you into the story. Ready for Love is yet another winner!

Solomon Singletary is referred by his best friend as “a cold piece of work.” Solomon is one of those sexy bruthas...a real ladies man. He tends to keep around four women on rotation to satisfy all his sexual needs. Each lady brings something different to the table. Although the ladies do not know about one another, Solomon has made it clear to them that he was not looking to settle down and that he just wanted to have fun and enjoy the time that he spends with them and that they should do the same. It's all no strings attached but with one stipulation: if he finds out that one of them is seeing someone else, it would be over.

Solomon may be a cold piece of work, but his past experiences with women have hurt him and caused him to be the man he is. Solomon has one soft spot though and that is the children. He volunteers as a coach at a local community center where there is one particular kid named Gerald that stands out from the rest. When Solomon finds out that Gerald’s mother is a woman from his past that he left high and dry, he realizes that she is his one regret in life. Solomon is determined to make amends and seek forgiveness from the one woman he ever truly loved. The question is, will she be willing to forgive and forget?

A Cold Piece of Work by Curtis Bunn was a story of love, lust, sex and secrets. The story is told from a man’s prospective on love, trusting in his feelings and in turn, trusting a woman. I appreciated the banter between the male characters in the book because the topics that were discussed were insightful coming from a man’s point of view. My one suggestion to Mr. Bunn would be to be careful on using song titles within his story that do not match up to the timeline of the storyline. Although a tad repetitive and one part being a bit farfetched, the story within A Cold Piece of Work was very good.

Vera is married to a man that absolutely adores her and although Vera loves her husband and their daughter, she wants more than anything to have a successful career. That is the one thing that her and her husband cannot seem to agree upon.

Money Never Sleeps by Tu-Shonda Whitaker is the highly anticipated sequel to The Millionaire Wives Club. A page-turner from the very beginning, it had me flipping the pages wanting to find out what drama was about to unfold next. The ladies from the reality television show The Real Housewives of Atlanta don’t have anything on the ladies of The Millionaire Wives Club. The story is full of drama, drama and more drama, and I absolutely loved it! I did take off half a point only because there was a scene within the novel where the timeline did not coincide, but other than that, Money Never Sleeps was an excellent novel.

That was, until tragedy strikes both of their lives and they become addicts. The one thing I enjoyed about this book is how Campbell painted the picture of both Marlissa and Leon. Both were thought they were perfect and untouchable. They were successful and had families that adored them. The one thing that they both were lacking was God. I liked how the author didn't just focus on how bad things had gotten in their lives, but instead the challenges they had to encounter on their journey to sobriety. Even though this book is christian fiction, the author does not step up on a soap box and start to preach to you about forgiveness, redemption, etc. Instead, Silver Lining is like a guide to comfort you through the tribulations that you or someone you know are going through. I highly recommend reading Silver Lining.

Jump is a thought-provoking novel by Terra Little. Little does an excellent job of character development with this story. Your heart really goes out to Lena as she tries to adjust to the outside world. This novel really shows the unfortunate consequences of when a victim takes matters into their own hands. When all of the details are revealed in what led Lena to murder her grandmother, readers will be in shock. Terra Little has further elevated her storytelling skills with Jump.

Does Prince have what it takes to make it from Prince to A King?

This story was very predictable from beginning to end. I felt this book followed the “universal” outline for some urban books. In other words, Prince To A King lacked originality. The editing on this book was atrocious. For example, there were times I thought the author was introducing a new character, but the names of character(s) were just misspelled. The book ended with loose ends, and that usually means the author is planning a sequel. I wouldn’t completely rule out reading another selection from this author. My only advice for this author is to step out of your comfort zone and take some chances.

But David seems to have sucked it up and kept it moving without skipping a beat. Now Benjamin is back and he wants to make sure that the truth is told. His missions are two-fold; first, to talk to Toni and try to salvage some type of life with her and the other is to talk to David Jr.

Seven years ago, four friends (couples Benjamin and Toni and David and Jada) were enjoying life. Then Benjamin suddenly disappeared. Three people knew one truth, while two knew just enough to keep life moving with minimal questions asked and one at the helm controlling it all. A concocted story for all the right reasons ends up being the wrong plan altogether. Terri D. kept the suspense and tension running on high in her debut. It’s told from each supporting characters' perspective, which can make the book move a little too slow at times, but you’ll be drawn into the story from the very beginning. I enjoyed the personal hurdles of each character and their interactions with one another. I wish the editing was not as problematic as it was, but even with the editing issues, the book was worth the read.

The theme of relational half truths and suspect behaviors in Yesterday’s Lies settles across a canvas of intersecting storylines in the lives of a score of characters that will leave you asking yourself: Would I do that?

Marlon McCaulsky has penned a continuation of life within the sexually charged walls of The Pink Palace with a few familiar faces. Greed, theft, murder, bribery, treachery, drugs, sordid sex, threats, manipulation, a tad of suspense, and even more steamy sex scenes thrive within these pages of sex sells, sex sells, and yes…sex sells. Malachi Turner is not someone to be dismissed or taken lightly, but can his reign of tyranny be overthrown? Who would have the gall to go up against this evil giant? Will Nikki’s attempt to fix her family’s problems only bring more drama or will she accomplish all that she sets out to correct? Jasmine feels threatened, will she react or will she be able to get her emotions in check and see the picture clearly? It was an easy read, no real excitement to build an unforgettable momentum, just a nice flow. I found one major con in this read and it is the inconsistency of the Jamaican dialect, it proved to be a major distraction.

For Ava Maxwell, not being able to conceive a child has cost her a marriage and an inability to believe that any man could love a "broken" woman. Ava pretty much dates until the man starts talking about a family and children, then she dumps them without any explanation. That has worked fine for her until she meets Hilton White. Hilton White is a sexy business owner who is new in town. A few coincidental meetings were enough for Ava and Hilton to both try and put the hurt in their past behind them to at least see where this new "friendship" may lead. But is baby mama drama and insecurities too much for the two to overcome, or can love conquer all?

A Love of Her Own is an excellent read by Bettye Griffin. Griffin does a good job of developing the primary characters. There are also secondary characters that are pivotal to the story that are well developed as well. Griffin also does a good job of keeping the story flowing without lagging moments. A Love of Her Own is a feel good story.

India Wynn works for a Fortune 500 company where she has worked extremely hard to maintain the position she has, working her way up the corporate ladder. India is a beautiful woman that has everything she could ever want. The one thing her friends think India is missing is a man to share her success with. With all the work India does for the company, it leaves little to no room to play when it comes to dating. Or so... they think.

When the assistant to the CEO enlists India's help in a special assignment on the Caribbean Island in the Bahamas, India is skeptical because of what her job would entail. After seeing she does not have much of a choice in the matter and not to mention that it's a paid vacation with an unlimited spending account, India jumps at the chance. Little does she know, she is being set up to take the fall for a multi-million dollar scam that could destroy everything she has worked for. The question is, who is setting India up for the fall and why?

Seductive Company by Red Snapper and Sexy India unfortunately is not a book I would recommend. Aside from the major editing issues and misspellings, none of the characters seemed to have a voice of their own. All the characters seemed to talk to themselves. There was too many sexual scenes with random people, and casual sex that was unprotected. Not once did I see the word condom used within the story. The problem with this is that it is unrealistic because not once was there mention of anyone getting an STD, AIDS or pregnancy. When you have unprotected sex with multiple partners, there are bound to be consequences and there were NONE within this story. There is also a time lapse discrepency in the story that should have been caught before the book went to print. The main character India must have had kryptonite between her legs because EVERYBODY seemed to fall in love and want to be with her (and when I say everybody, I mean everybody from men to women...Unrealistic!) Also, the story was very repetitive and instead of writing a sequel the author's could have easily written this into one novel. The constant back and forth and repetitiveness made for a bad read.

My suggestion for these authors is to invest in a good editor and developmental editor to make this a smoother read.

Tears of a Hustler 2 by Silk White picks up right where the last book left off: With Christie hearing that fatal gunshot go off in the bathroom where the love of her life Shawn 'Spanky' Martin has just committed suicide after losing the title fight against James 'The Terminator' Johnson. The question on why Spanky killed himself still remained. After the loss of Spanky, Christie slipped into a deep depression and the only thing that seemed to ease the pain was the drugs she quickly became addicted to.Ali is locked behind bars, with Nancy holding him down. Ali is stumped on who could have been the snake within his camp that snitched and got him locked away. Even while in prison, Ali is running a smooth operation, leaving G-Money to run things on the street. With a crooked detective running around trying to make sure the rest of his crew is locked up, it is difficult for the crew to move about how they would like. But when the tables turn, who is going to be left standing and on top of the game?

Tears of a Hustler 2 by Silk White left me stunned. After reading the first book and seeing what Mr. White is capable of producing, I was highly disappointed that the sequel fell short of the first novel. There was too much going on within the confines of each page. Contradicting scenes, such as drug dealer's keeping a low profile, yet riding throughout the hood in a limo. Seriously?! Who does that? Questions from the previous novel were not answered, and there were unbelievable scenes that had me shaking my head in disbelief. Adding to this, editing issues and misspellings left for a poorly written novel. I do plan to read the 3rd novel only because I really enjoyed the first novel with the hopes that the 3rd one will be better than the second installment.

Sheila Goss does an excellent job bringing a new millennium twist to some familiar characters of the bible. I love how the author showed the character’s vulnerability in their given situation. One common thread in this story was the ability to lean on GOD no matter what the situation is.I highly recommend Ruthless.

The Next Phase of Life by Charmaine R. Parker is the story of friendship and family. Tai Wilson just celebrated her 40th birthday and unfortunately the man she expected to spend it with was a no show to the elaborate party she through. Although Tai is a successful entrepreneur of an employment agency called The Next Phase of Life and helping those that are trying to move on to the next phase of life by being self-sufficient, she cannot seem to find her prince charming.

When Tai logs into her Facebook account, she sees a message from her long lost sister Trista. Shortly thereafter, Tai invites Trista to come stay with her until she can get on her feet. With her sister living with her, it gives little time for the budding romance she has with her new man. Tai is blind to the fact that her sister is harboring resentment towards her from their past. Will Trista be able to let go of her past hurts to finally have a relationship with her sister, or will she push the only family she has away?

The Next Phase of Life by Charmaine R. Parker was a very slow moving story. The stories the women of the story share with one another from back in the day when they were in highschool to the present was too detailed and irrelevant to the storyline. The story was entirely too detailed from what the characters in the story ate to what they wore (name dropping designer labels), thus making for a poor read. The story begins to pick up approximately 60 pages until the end, and unfortunately that was too rushed. The one thing I did enjoy about this story is that Ms. Parker brought some independent, successful black women within her characters.
