Have you ever looked at a picture, I mean, really looked and wondered what the story behind that picture really meant? What kind of secrets that the person captured in the photograph may have had? Behind every family, there are bound to be secrets never revealed, never spoken, and taken to one's grave.
Family Pictures by Rachel Berry is the story of two very unique women: Emma Jean and Regal. Emma Jean is the older of the two, married to a man that seems to have a gambling problem. That is the least of Emma Jean's problems though. To escape her reality and the pain of the past, she drowns her sorrows in liquor and stays holed up within the darkened bedroom of her home, never gracing the outside world.
Regal is Emma Jean's niece, and she's full-figured and beautiful. Regal has two children and is engaged to be married to a very good man by the name of Robert. Unfortunately, a mysterious letter will bring everything to a halt. Regal will be bombarded with a series of startling revelations about her family that will leave her confused and hurt. After all is said and done, nothing will ever be quite the same again.
Family Pictures by Rachel Berry is the story of family, love, hate, drama, deception, suspense and secrets...LOTS of secrets. Ms. Berry makes her literary mark with this debut novel. From the very first page, the reader will be engrossed. Every so often, your mouth will drop open and you'll have an "Oh my God" moment or just be in shock. I would like to make a suggestion to the author: to do a reprint of the book and have the novel professionally edited. The only problem with this novel was the misspellings throughout the book, thus being the reason for my 1 point deduction. Other than that, this was a phenomenal novel and I would highly recommend! (Please note: This book has been re-released, so the editing may have been addressed in the newer version that is on the market)
