Antoinette Rogers, a.k.a. Toni, has been in and out of foster care since she can remember. Her mother Elaine is addicted to drugs and alcohol, thus causing an unstable environment for the young Toni to grow up in. After missing so much school, she is yet again removed from her home and thrown into a group home. Toni never misses a beat with her studies, a straight "A" student, athletic with dreams of playing in the WNBA. At the age of 16, Toni is about to graduate early and has a boyfriend who is headed to play pro ball himself.

Later, Toni is just completing her 2nd year in college, playing college basketball, and is well on her way of making her dreams come true. During one of these games, she meets Money Mike, a successful rapper in the music industry. As soon as he lays eyes on the Toni, he is determined to get to know her. With a boyfriend in another state and Money Mike splurging and trying to get to know her, she will need to decide which one she wants to be with. Or will they ultimately make that decision for her?

Mirror, Beware! by Dream Summore was a story full of contradictions that left me more confused than ever. There are also scenes in the book that are, for a lack of a better word, utterly ridiculous. For example: At prom, everyone is at an afterparty at a hotel and they are passing around a silver tray with ectasy and other drugs. One contradictions is that the author mentions the fact that Toni graduated at 16 but yet she played basketball in high school for 4 years. Then later goes on to say Toni is in her 2nd year of college at the age of 18. The reference that Toni was a virgin. but then later throughout the novel she obviously was not. These are just to name a few. The story starts off one way and completely goes into another direction that turns out to be your typical novel of rags to riches from the hood to glamour. The story had the potential to be so much more yet the author seemed to try too hard to keep the drama going by throwing in one thing after another. The author should have just left well enough alone and kept to the original script, and maybe Mirror, Beware! would have been better.

Thanks for your review.
She graduated at 16 years old. She played basketball during high school and part during her college semester. Sorry it was missed...and others followed fine but appreciate your review to keep in mind with editor and as author.
