There are so much emphasis on celebrity in our culture right now: reality television, tabloids, internet fame, and such. To make matters worse, every time I turn around, there is another celebrity how-to book out there. So I've become very cautious about what kinds of messages I'm sending my daughter when I engage in celebrity fare. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. In most celeb non-fics I read, I can tell very early (usually after a few paragraphs) that someone else has tweaked the words. There is a feel of unauthenticity in tone, which makes me immediately disconnect from the book. When I read Put on The Crown, however, I felt, without a doubt, Queen Latifah talking to us.
