NEW REVIEW : A Touch of Love by Sheryl Lister

4 out of 5 books

Café owner Lexia Daniels and ex-model turned fitness center owner Khalil Gray both know that love is not what they are looking for. A little harmless flirting and maybe a friendship is ok, but definitely not love. They both have been hurt by love and want no parts of it. However, their attraction towards one another is strong from the beginning. It is so strong that it causes each of them to step back and rethink what they are doing. But honestly, regardless of what has happened in the past, can you walk away from real fairy-tale love?

A Touch of Love is an exceptional book. Sheryl Lister does an amazing job of pulling you into the story where you feel as if you are a part of the story. I also loved the way she was able to weave in two very important social topics without taking away from the story. It actually added to the love between Lexia and Khalil. I would say this one should be added to your To-Be-Read stack.

NEW REVIEW : Breakfast in Bed by Rochelle Alers

3 out of 5 books

Tonya Martin has just moved to New Orleans and is ready to take the Nawlins culinary world by storm. Her only child is about to graduate from college, her parents are happily retired in Florida, and she is ready to begin her lifelong dream of owning her own restaurant. So, when she decides a friendship with the handsome chef, musician, and teacher, Gage Toussaint, she is not prepared for the sparks that ignite. Tonya has decided she doesn’t need a man to control her life, especially after her Jekyll and Hyde ex-husband. But Tonya quickly learns that, life doesn’t always go as expected and that might not be a bad thing.

Rochelle Alers is an excellent author and I love her books, especially all her family connection series. Breakfast in Bed was just an ok book for me. This particular story took a long time to unfold. I felt that there were parts that dragged on. However, if you are a Rochelle Alers fan, I would still add Breakfast in Bed to your reading list.

NEW REVIEW : 12 Hours of Daylight : A Jason Jules Novella by Tameka Mullins

4 out of 5 books

Jason Jules is a 22-year-old single father that is desperately trying to make ends meet. He reluctantly gets into the world of porn. While this profession gives him access to plenty of cash and beautiful women, Jason doesn’t like this job at all. He’s torn between continuing his porn career for the money or try to find a more suitable profession. What will he choose to do?

12 Hours of Daylight is a very unexpected story from Tameka Mullins. Mullins gives us a very different take on the porn industry. You actually feel Jason’s conflict every time he goes to work and then goes home to his young children. There is also some family drama that makes this story all the more intriguing. Mullins does a wonderful job with giving us a complete story with this novella. There is a definite satisfying ending.12 Hours of Daylight is an erotic, fast-paced and entertaining read by Tameka Mullins.

NEW REVIEW : Abuse of Discretion by Pamela Samuels Young

            5 out of 5 books

Graylin Alexander is a fourteen-year old with a bright future. But when he unknowingly gets involved in a sexting scandal, Graylin’s world could be changed forever. Jenny Ungerman is hired to defend Graylin. Jenny is ready to give this case her all until ex-prosecutor Angela Evans joins the defense team. Jenny and Angela are not on the same page. Can they resolve their differences in time to win this case? Meanwhile, Angela’s boyfriend Dre is dealing with a ghost from his past that could put them all in danger.

Abuse of Discretion is an excellent book that shows the consequences of sexting. Pamela Samuels Young gives us a signature courtroom drama and mystery that is anything but typical. You get a bird’s-eye view of the confusing juvenile criminal justice system. Young brought back some familiar characters from her prior books and introduced some new ones as well. Readers will be shocked when the truth really comes out in Graylin’s trial. This book drives the point home about knowing what your child is doing on their computers and cell phones at all times. Abuse of Discretion is a fast-paced, emotionally charged novel with surprising plot twists that Pamela Samuels Young is known for.
