NEW REVIEW : You Can't Plan Love by Synithia Williams

5 out of 5 books

Kenyatta Copeland has been hurt one too many times. So when her "safe" boyfriend proposes, she accepts. Even if that means living a life without passion. Malcolm is fine with lusting after Kenyatta for a distance, until he sees the ring on finger. He has vowed never to get involved with another person he works with, but for some reason he can't stand the thought of Kenyatta being with someone else. Kenyatta has also been lusting after Malcolm in secret, but know "his" type all to well. So why is she feeling nausea every time she thinks about marrying "safe" Brad and can only find comfort in Malcolm's arms ? But as that old adage goes, never judge a book by its cover.

You Can't Plan Love is a phenomenal read. It gives you romance, suspense, and action all rolled up into one well written story. Williams does a superb job with character and plot development. This book is a page turner from beginning to end. You Can't Plan Love is an excellent first time novel for Williams. A must read!

NEW REVIEW : Crazy Summer by Cole Hart

2 out of 5 books

Summer is one who usually uses her body for what she wants and she is not ashamed of it. At the age of 16 she is the mother of a set of twin boys. When she gets pregnant with her third child, she decides to live with her baby’s father. From there her life seems to gradually flourish and become better. However, everything that looks good may not be good. From the loss of her first love to her stint in jail, things are not looking good for her. Can she get everything back in order or will she truly become Crazy Summer?

Crazy Summer by Cole Hart did very little  for me. It seemed extremely long and drawn out which caused me to lose focus on the story multiple times. There were certain moments when what happened to characters was just left in the air. I did not like that the book went from the character being a teenager to the character having grandchildren. This just made the book seem that much longer. Crazy Summer would be better off as two books instead of one. I believe that with better editing and more developmental editing this author will put out more successful books in the future.

NEW REVIEW : Single Girl Summer by Deanna Kimberly Burrell

5 out of 5 books

I had fun in the first chapter learning about Button and Henry and their relationship as well as the rest of the characters. None will leave as much of an impression on readers as Dawn Martin and not to be forgotten is Meghan Cherry.  After an afternoon of sharing a meal, the friendship of this threesome begins as does the journey we get to witness.
Single Girl Summer is about embracing life. Button, Dawn and Meghan know a little something about life and living it. Each one tells her story and how she comes to the relationship status she currently finds herself in. But what’s so clever is how the author gives each character something that the other one needs; it’s what makes them all beneficiaries of a grand friendship. We will go through things in this life, but it just seems a little bit easier when you have friendships like Button, Dawn and Meghan.
Excellent read which reminds me of a modern day Steel Magnolias or Waiting to Exhale.

NEW REVIEW : Husband 101 by A'ndrea Wilson

4 out of 5 books

Husband 101 by A'ndrea Wilson is the anticipated follow-up to Wife 101. Eric Hayes is now married to Amber, a woman that he use to work for and they are expecting their first child together. As a wedding gift, Amber turned her first business, the realty company over to Eric to head it anyway he saw fit. With his new responsibilites as CEO of the realty company, Eric wants to do something that could potentially bring in a lot of money and possibly make their realty company one of the best and sought after by some of the biggest names (actors, sports stars, etc.)
Eric's new client Jacqueline "Jay" Johnson is not only determined to find the perfect location for her next business venture but she also has her sights set on Eric. Knowing that Eric is married only fuels Jay's desire for Eric even more. Temptation may come in the form of a sexy woman but the fact that the opportunities that Jay can lead Eric to, is even more tempting. With a woman of her caliber and money, Jay may just be able to get what he dreams of sooner. The question is how far is Eric willing to go to make his dreams for the company a reality?

Husband 101 by A'ndrea Wilson was a very good read. It not only leads with passages from the bible but also lessons to be learned from each. How men should communicate with their significant other and to SHOW...not just tell their spouse how much they love them. How much the woman in their life is appreciated with small gestures. Although this is a fictional novel, this series is one that I would recommend to anyone. Whether you are married or single, there are lessons that you can take from this novel and use in your current or future relationship.

NEW REVIEW : Beautiful Nightmare By Johnna B

4 out of 5 books

Have you ever met someone so handsome or beautiful it renders you speechless? Breath becomes hard to receive, you imagine yourself in positions reserved for porno movies? Just thinking about him or her, makes your heart and your pulse beat faster?

Raven is every man's dream and every woman's nightmare! She is sexy personified! Every curve in just the right places, and body toned and sleek. She makes the men drool and the women hold a little tighter. But her little secret will be a surprise to them all!

Meet Valencia Ball. She's a dark beauty who doesn't seem to know her worth. She works hard at the law firm she's employed at. Valencia longs for the experience of real love, not the dirty past of so called uncles violating her innocence, calling it love. But when she meets Kidd Valencia finds it hard to pay attention to the reason why he's here. A beautiful male specimen, chiseled, sexy and a gorgeous smile is following her to a conference room. Walking behind this beautiful creature, Kidd is having erotic daydreams watching her shapely figure covered by her designer wear.

The desire between Valencia and Kidd is raw and fresh. Could he be the one to bring her boring life some excitement? Could she be the one who makes him quit the game and settle down? But what happens when sultry sexy Raven appears and sets her sights on being the One. Will she put their ideas of happiness together to a test? Or does she have her own agenda?

This was an interesting read, even though at times it reminded me of movies touching on the same subject matter. But what made it different was the twist, I definitely didn't expect it and it proved to make the storyline more interesting. The only downside to the book was the many wrong word tenses and sometimes missing whole words. Maybe an additional bit of editing would have made this story a 5 star read. But don't sleep on this story, you'll take a ride you won't soon forget!

NEW REVIEW : Imperfect Angel by Monique Grant

2 out of 5 books

Angel is the wife of Joey, an incarcerated low level dope boy. She works and tends to their baby girl while fending off the attention of a younger man that works at her job. Angel finds herself submitting to her need for a companion as well as a male figure in her home, while continuing to lie to Joey. Angel has to decide how long she can continue this love triangle or is she strong enough to deal someone a losing hand…or will she end up the loser in the end?

Imperfect Angel is your basic hood story with the infamous ‘beautiful, bodacious chick’, the fine men that all want her, and the oversaturated sex scenes. There was no originality within this storyline and poor editing made this just ‘a read’, nothing to brag about or recommend.

NEW REVIEW : Love on the Run by Zuri Day

5 out of 5 books

Gold medal winner  track star Shayna Washington is about to become a household name if sports manager Michael Morgan has anything to do with it. Michael Morgan is one of three brothers that are absolutely gorgeous. It also doesn't hurt that they have all done well for themselves. Michael is a die hard ladies man but does not lead anyone on. He is upfront and honest about his position on not looking for anything permanent. So when he meets with his new client and helps her in a time of need, he is not sure where these strange feelings that he is having are coming from. Shayna finds her new manager sinfully sexy but knows that he probably has women everywhere. So after she is attacked by her ex boyfriend and ends up back on Michael's door step, she starts to believe that maybe she could be wrong about this playboy. Michael and Shayna go through several ups and downs with other women, her mother, and her ex, while trying to build their relationship. But in the end, they realize that trust is all they need.

Love on the Run by Zuri Day is an awesome read. The love story is so sweet and endearing, that you can't help but fall in love with Michael and Shayna. Day does an excellent job with character development and pulling you into the lives of the characters with her style of writing. There are also several subplots going on that are critical to the main plot, that Day integrates seamlessly into the main story. You won't find any lagging moments in this story either. Great read!
