Enter into the dark and gritty streets of New York where a star is born and made every minute. Welfare Wifeys takes you on a journey of rags to riches, fame, resentment, pain, and everyday struggles.
Animal is an up-and-coming rapper who just recently signed to Big Dawg Entertainment. With his new found fame, Animal has relocated to Texas to start a new life. But on a visit back to New York, it seems that old habits die hard. Animal has some unfinished business that must be handled, and no one will step in his way. With the anticipation of his album, Animal must make a choice of what is more important: his new found career or retaliation that he feels he must handle from his former life. Is Animal's visit home just an cover up for something deeper? Will Animal make the right choice, or will careless thinking leave life-changing consequences?
Growing up in the projects can be a challenge. Avoiding daily temptations and trying to stay on the right path is what Malika tried to instill in her son, Solomon. Being a single mom coming from an affluent background, Malika's choices and bad decisions caused her life to head in totally different direction than what her family planned. Early on, Malika was disowned by her family and had the difficult task of raising her son on her own. As Solomon grows older, peer pressure and temptation of drug dealing is calling his name. When an old flame from Malika past enters the scene, Solomon begins to stray. Will Malika be able to save Solomon before he ends up down a path of no return, or will it be too late?
From the beginning to the end, Welfare Wifeys takes you on path where you will not want to put this book down. K’wan never fails at painting a street tale that is both vivid and realistic. He describes the journeys of all the different people at the Frederick Douglas Housing projects. No matter what you have accomplished or strived hard to achieve, sometimes it’s best to leave the past in the past. Consequences and repercussions can be staring you in the face with some serious life-altering changes. As an avid fan of K‘wan, I was excited to read Welfare Wifeys, and I had high expectations for this book. If your looking for drama, pain, love, and betrayal all wrapped in one, you will definitely need pick up Welfare Wifeys.

I'm sorry to say but this book isnt worth 5 books/stars. it seems as if the reviewer rated this book well because he/she is a fan on Kwan... How can you rate a book with high when it has grammar errors and the story line is the same typical hood story line. Im not saying this author work isn't good but Welfare Wifeys is not what people are saying.. ok if you dont believe me just read it yourself.
